LocationSanta Cruz
Maynas Province, Loreto Region, Peru Santa Cruz is a tiny Amazonian municipal district in the Maynas Province of Peru, inhabited by around 400 people. The dominating occupations in the area are mainly survival based, hunting and gathering, as well as illegal logging. However, there have been movements in recent years by the Peruvian government with help from organizations such as Project Amazonas to increase education in remote areas of the Amazon like Santa Cruz. A school has been built where the children of the area are taught by educated citizens of Iquitos, the nearest metropolitan area. This is where we plan to install the computer lab, to provide opportunities for these uneducated children to reach previously unattainable levels of success in their community. |
