Meet the Team
These three friends from University of Washington have BIG ideas and more than enough motivation to make these ideas realities.
Ian BrodieAt age 16, Ian founded Technology for Daraja, an independently run charity campaign that hoped to establish a fully-functional computer lab at the Daraja Academy, a rural boarding school for underprivileged girls in Kenya. After six months of fundraising, Ian had raised enough to deliver a computer lab and before long, he found himself in Nanyuki, Kenya. While there, Ian setup the lab, taught computer lessons to over 100 Daraja students, instructed the Daraja teachers on how best to utilize the new equipment, and of course, enjoyed the amazing country of Kenya. The experience changed his life, and he promised himself he would do something like it again.
Now a sophomore at the University of Washington, Ian hopes to take his experience with Kenya and put it towards making an even bigger difference in the remote region of Santa Cruz. Fun Fact: Aside from Kenya, Ian has traveled to China, Iceland, England, and the United Arab Emirates. He hopes to travel to every continent by the time he is 21. |
Mark TodaMark is currently a sophomore at University of Washington, working his way toward a double major in entrepreneurship and computer science engineering. Sounds like a weird combination, but he looks to utilize this diverse knowledge base in the artificial intelligence field after graduation.
In addition to Connect | Amazon, Mark is also highly involved in the American Marketing Association club at the University of Washington. He is currently the Vice President of Finance for the club and loves the opportunities and friends made there. Mark is very excited about the prospects of Connect | Amazon and looks forward to working with Ian and Robbie to make a difference in Peru. |
Rob SchabFor this team member, Connect | Amazon is just the beginning. Rob has a great passion for making this world a more safe and peaceful place to live. Growing up, travel and culture had always been among Robs greatest interests. Now a student at University of Washington, he plans to see as much of the world as possible while getting an education.
Rob is known by his colleagues to be a salesman. He is heavily involved in fraternal recruitment and is seeking a sales certificate from his university. He hopes to make a great contribution to the Connect | Amazon team by putting these skills to use. Joined by his two best friends, Rob is absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to change lives in Santa Cruz. |
